Criollos dominan en casa y empatan 2-2 la Final de Conferencia Este
Las Finales de Conferencia son pura candela
En Caguas, los Criollos se impusieron 111-97 sobre los Vaqueros de Bayamón en el Coliseo Roger Mendoza, en un partido que los locales controlaron durante 37 minutos y 14 segundos para empatar 2-2 la Final de Conferencia Este.

Los Criollos arrancaron mejor, cerrando el primer cuarto al frente 32-25, y nunca cedieron el control del partido. Con solo 5 cambios de líder en todo el encuentro, Caguas fue ampliando la diferencia de manera sostenida, llegando a superar los 20 puntos en la segunda mitad. Los Vaqueros intentaron reaccionar en el último parcial, pero los Criollos respondieron con triples oportunos para mantener la ventaja segura.

A nivel colectivo, Caguas disparó para un 60.7% desde el campo y conectó 17 de 29 intentos desde el perímetro. Su banco aportó 22 puntos y generó 18 en contraataque. Los Vaqueros se quedaron en un 52.2% de efectividad, pero no pudieron sostener el ritmo ofensivo de los locales.

Travis Trice lideró a los Criollos con 33 puntos, 11 asistencias y 5 triples conectados en casi 36 minutos. Moses Brown firmó un doble-doble de 20 puntos y 8 rebotes con un eficiente 80% desde el campo, y Christian López Santiago aportó 19 puntos con tiro perfecto de dos puntos. Por los Vaqueros, Gary Browne fue el más destacado con 29 puntos y 6 asistencias, y Damian Jones sumó 29 puntos y 10 rebotes.

Edgar Berlanga reacts to early scare before scoring win over Steven Butler

Edgar Berlanga nearly suffered his own setback on his Zuffa debut, getting dropped in the second against Steven Butler before rallying back to stop him in seven rounds. It certainly wasn't exactly the kind of performance Berlanga would've been hoping for, but he did end up with a win nonetheless. Here's some of what he had to say in the post-fight press conference.

Berlanga on getting dropped in the second
"It was a good shot. It was a good hook. I mean, I'm a warrior, man. Shook it off and got right back to it."

On Butler ultimately getting stopped
"He was just taking punishment. At this point he wasn't even — listen, Steven Butler's dangerous. A wounded animal is a dangerous animal and I seen his fights numerous times. He never got put out flat in any of his fights, it was always the ref jumping in and stopping the fight and he was angry 'cause they stopped it.
"I had him hurt a couple of times and I didn't really want to press the gas because he was still talking to me hurt…But it was a great fight."

On who he wants to fight next
"I want Chris Eubank. I've been talking about him for a long time. I think that'll be a big, big fight in London. We can get it on in November, December. I'm really trying to shoot for that fight but if he's not on the menu you got Jaime Munguia. That's a big fight I want. Mexico vs Puerto Rico…You got Caleb Plant, I don't know if he's still retired or coming back. You got Jermall Charlo, that's a great fight as well. And you know the fight we want, man. The Hamzah Sheeraz fight. We want that fight, we want that smoke.

"But before I get that fight I want a world title and I want to take it from either Munguia or one of these guys, that way when we do meet up with Hamzah Sheeraz…it'll be a unification fight and it's going to be the biggest fight in boxing."
